Hmm... I am just a humble user, but I still wanted to share the reason
why I am using Gossip and not any other instant messaging program.
Reason number one is the clean design and highly usable interface of
Gossip that is specially made for Jabber. Gossip follows the UNIX
philosophy of creating programs that does one thing, and does is well.
Other programs, like Gaim, tries to be everything, and therefore fails
to be good at anything.

The other reason - even though it might seem like a contradiction - is
the lack of features. Plugins, themes and other options tend to be
very popular in many programs, but few actually any significant
benefit to the user. Gossip presents the user with a sane set of
default values, and does not clutter the interface with the
possibility to tweak every part of the program.

Now, back to the IRC interface. Adding IRC contradicts to both of the
reasons that makes Gossip my favourite IM client. However, if I could
chat on IRC in Gossip style chatrooms, I might change my mind :). As
long as IRC support is added in what I believe is the spirit of Gossip
- that is a highly functional, no non-sense and appealing IM client -
I do think it is a good idea. My biggest fear for Gossip is that it
turns into another Gaim or XChat.

These are just my thoughts, feel free to pipe them to /dev/null if you
find them silly :). Anyway, thanks for producing the best IM client
out there!
