6.10 is edgy, right ? Everything should be packaged, just run
apt-get build-dep gossip
to install all packages necessary to compile gossip. If you are trying
to compile gossip with telepathy support you need a more recent
libtelepathy, I suggest you to backport feisty's package. You need to
backport telepathy-gabble at least too.
