Using Telepathy makes it possible to make it multiprotocol at less
cost than implementing all the different backends yourself. That
doesn't mean it makes sense to make every Telepathy client multi
protocol. This is the same discussion that has been floating around
XMPP for ages (since in theory the XMPP provides the same thing as
Telepath, only using XML instead of D-BUS).
