There's no shortage of debate on this topic, but I firmly believe the
only practical tab-based solution to this sort of MDI-style problem is
multiple rows of tabs. The tab width can be set reasonably, without
taking up too much horizontal space, or becoming too small. There's room
for the right-aligned close button. And most importantly, it's the only
way to have them all visible at a constant width at all times.
