No, it's another approach to the same problem, it's out of the box
thinking.

What if you say 'the button placement was good the way it used to be,
but we still have a problem with small tabs', it leads to a different
approach. I think that is where the 'outside' suggestions have been
going, while the 'developers' all have been focusing on the placement
problem.
