I can see that being useful, actually.
My reason for the clearing is usually stuff that's not work safe, or
otherwise uncomfortable depending on context. I don't want it popping
back up just because I had to reboot or restart X or whatever.
Keeping the recall in the log viewer is always good. It seems like a
happy medium.
